TASK 1: Blog vocabulary

In this first task we prepared a list of the vocabuary used when creating and using a blog. We used the program called "Quizlet"which allowed us to learn the new words in an easy and fast way. The good thing about this program is that it shows you how to pronounce the words you are looking for too, which we found very useful.

TASK 2: Definition of culture

In this second task we had to choose one of the definitions we were given and develop it. We choose one from Irene de la Fuente which talked about the need of being open minded so as to understand people around the world and its different cultures as we thought it was the one that best matched with out way of thinking. This post also helped us realize about the importance of cultures in the world.

TASK 3: "Dancing with the Devil"

Before Halloween Estrella and I created a "Movie Maker" telling the horror story called "Dancing with the Devil". We found the story interesting as we had never heard of it before and we also had a really good time recording it and looking for the images which would look better in the video.
In this third task we made another "Quizlet" with the vocabulary used in the story and we showed it to the rest of our classmates as some of the words used were new to us.

TASK 4: Metaphors

In task 4 we were given some methaphors used when describing what culture is and using them as examples we later created our own ones. In the first one we compared culture with a pomegranate to explain beliefs and their importance in a culture and in the second one we compared it with an appartment as we think culture is like a second home. We enjoyed this activity as it allowed us to be original and creative.

TASK 5: Connecting cultures

Here Estrella and I created a poster with the message "we are all the same". What we tried to express is that it does not matter where people are from, which is their religion, skin tone or which culture do they follow as we are all human, what makes all of us important regardless of this facts. We used a program called "Piktochart" to do it and we used different colors and pictures and mixed them to put more importance in our point of view, which was that we all are one.

TASK 6: Our favourite Christmas song

For our Christmas task we choose which would be our favourite song of the holiday, called "Last Christmas" by Cascada and we uploaded it to the blog. We enojoyed this task as it was really entertaining and also because we created a "Wordle", that consists in puting words of different sizes and colors on a black background so that the important words from the lyrics of the song can be easily seen. This let us get to know the lyrics in a better way and we had some fun while doing it.

TASK 7: The 13 British Colonies

In task 7 we created a "Movie Maker" explaining the history of the 13 British Colonies with our own words. We enjoyed it a lot as it allowed us to understand its historical contents a lot better and it was an innovative way to learn new things without having to memorize them. Then, we showed the video to our classmates and they showed us theirs so we ended up having lots of new knowledge.

TASK 8: "The Lord of the Rings"

This was our last task and probably our favourite one as we found it really enjoyable and we laughed a lot while doing it. What we did was create a "Movie Maker" with a scene of the movie "The Lord of the Rings" but we changed the voices of the characters and we recorded our own dialogue. With this activity we improved our pronunciation and fluency speaking english while having a good time and it also let us improve our skills with the program used, which was great too.

BLOG VOCABULARY:

In this activity we looked for the difficult words that make up a blog, its vocabulary. Thanks to it, I learned a lot of new words whose meaning I didn't know before.
We had to do a Quizlet. I didn't know this application either which helps you to do a glossary and enjoy it.

DEFINITION OF CULTURE:

We chose a definition of a girl who explains the word culture as something that defines human behaviour. We thought that definition was the best one for our way of thinking. This activity helped us to have more clear the meaning of culture.

"DANCING WITH THE DEVIL" VOCABULARY:

We had to do a MovieMaker explaining the horror story called "Dancing with  the Devil". Thanks to it, we have learned a new typical story from English countries. Moreover, we have practised with MovieMaker and it has permitted us to have a good command of it.

METAPHORS:

Based on some examples of metaphors, my partner and I made two metaphors with the word culture. We compared it with a pomegranate and an appartment. This activity was also good to try to put into words our thoughts.

CONNECTING CULTURES:

With this activity, we had to create a poster to make people aware of the importance of "connecting cultures". Our poster shows the face of a girl created with different photographies superimposed of faces of girls from others races with the message "We are all the same". We used the programm "Picktochart", a good tool to make posters and other visual presentations.

OUR FAVOURITE CHRISTMAS SONG:

During Christmas we chose a very famous Christmas song that we really liked, it is "Last Christmas" by Cascada. We thought that it was a symbol of this time of  the year as almost everyone recognizes it. We did a Wordle with the lyrics of the song, it is an original and visual form to remark important words.

THE 13 BRITISH COLONIES:

This project is about the 13 British colonies and we decided to make a video, a MovieMaker to explain and give more information about their history. We learned lots of new things that we were ignorant of before. I think that it's a good way to understand historical events and it is more enjoyable.

LORD OF THE RINGS:

It has been the last activity and the best one for me. We had to dub a scene of a movie or video from the English country that we had choosen previously, in our case, New Zealand. We dubbed a fragment of the film "Lord of the Rings" and it sounds very real! Gemma and me are very proud of the result.
